Tulip as my heart in the Universe

There are tulips in my garden, red ones, whose flowers always look like hearts. That is to say they look like the kind of hearts which were on the “will you be my valentine” cards from my childhood – those cards you gave to the girl in your 3rd grade class, the girl that made you feel strange so you pushed her in the snow as often as possible – those cards.

I spent some time working on one particular image of a tulip – working on colour – on colours that felt like that time in my life. These three – Red, Purple and Green – are today’s version of a “will you be my valentine” card.

As for the universe bit – that’s why I make pictures.
